Do you offer both ceremony and reception music?
Absolutely! With Something Borrowed you don’t need to waste time and money hiring two wedding bands, we are extremely versatile and can play every type and style of music.
What are your wedding band prices?
Our pricing depends on what type of band you require, how long you need us for, and where your ceremony and/or reception is located. Please get in touch and we’ll be delighted to provide an obligation-free quote. Thankfully we have a package to suit nearly every budget!
How do I find out if you’re available on my wedding day?

Overall, what sort of music do you perform?
Pretty much everything! A great selection of tunes that will suit all your family and friends. Pop, soul, classical, soft jazz, party rock covers and more! Check out our selection on the music videos page.
Specifically, what type of music do you play at wedding receptions?
Unless you specify differently, we play soft background music for drinks, canapés and dinner – then upbeat party music for dancing. We put our own special twist on pop, soul and softer jazz during pre-dinner drinks and dinner, acting as background mood music. Then once the cake is cut and you’ve had your first dance, the band kicks off the dancing with party music. We start with classic dance floor tunes for the older guests, then move on to the new stuff. This way the music appeals to the young and the not so young!
Do you guarantee to get everyone up and dancing?
Yes! Our music gets people up and dancing. We create a party mood because it’s your wedding – the ultimate celebration!
Where do you play your wedding ceremony and wedding reception music?
We travel far and wide! We happily perform in Sydney, the Hunter Valley, the Southern Highlands, the Blue Mountains and even interstate and overseas!
My friend hired a wedding band, but they cancelled 8 days before her wedding. Do you ever cancel under any circumstances?
No, never! We’ve never cancelled a wedding and never will. Once you’ve booked us, you’ve got us.
Do we need to provide food and drink for the band members?
Food and non-alcoholic drinks are always appreciated. For reception bookings in excess of two hours, it’s industry-standard to provide a ‘crew meal’ for each musician, plus access to non-alcoholic beverages throughout the function. Please check with your reception venue because usually crew meals are charged at a reduced rate.
Do you use backing tracks when playing your instruments?
No way! It’s 100% pure live music.
How long does it take the band to set up and pack away?
We arrive 15 minutes before the ceremony starts to set up, and it usually takes a similar amount of time to pack away. This 15 minutes is outside of the time you’ve booked us for. For example, a booking from 4.00pm – 5:30pm means we set up from 3:45pm- 4.00pm. We then pack away from 5:30pm – 5:45pm.
The band will set up 60 minutes before the booking starts, but packing away requires a lot less time, usually 20-30 minutes. This is also outside of your booked time. For example, a booking of 5:00pm – 10:00pm means we set up at 4:00pm, ready to start by 4:55pm, and we’ll pack away at 10:00pm, which means we’ll be away by 10:30pm.
Due to logistics, is it possible for you to set up earlier?
If you need us to set up more than 60 minutes before the event, we can absolutely do this, but it’s naturally an additional fee.

I have a request for the Reception First Dance that isn’t on your song list. Can you still play it?
Yes! For the following key moments we’ll learn almost any song you ask us to play: Ceremony Bridal Entrance, Ceremony Register Signing, Ceremony Exit Song and Reception First Dance.
Why are some of the key songs at the reception played by the DJ rather than live?
Our Package Pricing includes playing the First Dance live PLUS 4 x 45 minute sets of live music. The other key wedding music highlights are added to our DJ playlist. The reason for this is because the band can be too loud for the MC who needs to make announcements during these important key moments. We find that having control over the volume via our DJ system ensures that everything runs smoothly and professionally.
Do you liaise with wedding planners?
Regularly! In fact, many Sydney wedding planners book us the minute they get a new client. We’re loved by many wedding venues as well.
I have a special request for my wedding day, can you help?
We will bend over backwards to fulfil your request. The key is to communicate any special requests long before your big day, so we can work toward making it happen. The good news is, with time and preparation we can fulfil most requests.
Do I need to organise a sound system for the reception hall?
The full band comes prepared with an excellent sound system, which is ideal for rooms of up to 240 guests. If your room is larger than this, we recommend hiring a larger PA sound system. If you’re unsure, don’t hesitate to get in touch. We’ve been doing this a long time and have performed in nearly every wedding venue in NSW!
Do I need to organise a microphone for speeches?
Yes – however the good news is that most venues include a wireless microphone that can be used by the MC and for speeches. It’s always important to check this first. You are welcome to hire a wireless microphone from us if you need – just let us know at the time of booking.
Do you do live shows?
We used to do live showcases when we were first starting out, but we are generally booked 12 months in advance now, so simply don’t have the time. To do a live show would mean turning away a couple who really want us for their wedding. As it is, we have to turn away couples if two wedding dates clash, and we really don’t want to turn away more couples because of scheduled live shows (That could be you!!). The good news is that we’ve invested considerable time and money so that you can enjoy our live video showcase from the comfort of your own home. Sit back and relax, and enjoy hours of live music without even leaving the couch!
Do you have public liability insurance?
Absolutely. As they say, don’t leave home without it! Some venues require a copy of our certificate of currency – which can be supplied on request.
