Formerly known as the Sebel Pier One (changed name in Feb 2014), the easiest way to find “Pier One Sydney Harbour” is to drive up Hickson Road towards the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Pier One is almost directly under the Sydney Harbour Bridge on the Sydney Theatre side of Walsh Bay – not The Rocks side. This Sydney wedding venue looks across the water towards Luna Park, not the Opera House.
There is plenty of cheap metered street parking on weekends and two underground parking stations within a 10 minute walk of the venue. You will pay a lot more for parking before 6pm on week days. Honestly, out of every “Sydney CBD” wedding venue that we work at – this is the easiest venue to find, park and access. To enter the venue just walk towards the harbour bridge.
Pier One is the last building before you get to the bridge. Either walk in through the main lobby which is under the last overhead bridge before the Sydney Harbour Bridge (for access to Dawes Point or Bridge Rooms) – or keep walking right towards the water and you’ll find the big glass doors on your left to enter into the main function room “Water @ Pier One”.
Wedding Ceremony: There are two main locations to have your ceremony within the venue. Either downstairs on the pier or upstairs in the bridge room. Weddings on the pier are stunning but our recommendation is to see if the bridge room is available as it is under shelter, plus if you thought the view from the main function room “Water” was spectacular – wait until you can basically touch the Sydney Harbour Bridge standing in the “Bridge Room” (Hence the name…).
One tip following the ceremony is to make sure you’ve planned ahead and booked a drinks and canapés package to take care of your guests whilst you are off getting photos taken. Most couples will also extend the ceremony music during this time as well whilst guests mingle.
Wedding Reception: Pier One has three main function spaces for weddings, business meetings/functions and parties. The premiere venue is Water @ Pier One with 180 degree views of Sydney Harbour (We play here every NYE – best seats in the house for Sydney NYE Fireworks). It is the perfect venue for larger weddings, with unrivalled views over the Harbour Bridge and Walsh Bay. Water @ Pier One provides a stunning setting for your special day, comfortably seating up to 200 guests (including the bridal table and a dancefloor).
Dawes Point room overlooks Walsh Bay and opens directly onto the pier. This room is versatile and comfortably seats up to 120 guests (including the bridal table and a dancefloor).
Bridge @ Pier One is truly a “room with a view” and the uninterrupted views of The Sydney Harbour Bridge are absolutely magnificent. Their custom made transparent marquee, expanding onto the bridge, has opening walls and a clear roof, creating a spectacular and unique venue. Bridge @ Pier One will comfortably take up to 200 guests in cocktail style. Dawes Point and Water were fully renovated in 2012/13.The Bridge Room Marquee opened late 2013.
